Service Description

This online, self-paced course is designed to enhance early childhood educators' skills in objective observation and assessment of children's behavior. It addresses common perceptual biases and provides structured strategies to improve accuracy and developmental appropriateness in documentation. Objectivity as a skill: The course emphasizes that objectivity is not an inherent trait but a skill that requires conscious effort, highlighting how biases and family conditioning influence perception. Scientific foundations of perception: Participants explore concepts such as inattentional blindness and experiential blindness, understanding that exposure alone does not guarantee objectivity. Practical observation tools: The curriculum includes methods like running records, structured bias checks, and strength-based documentation to help educators differentiate developmental variations from impairments and disabilities.
