Service Description

This online, self-paced course explores how misinterpretations of developmentally appropriate behaviors often lead to mislabeling, unnecessary referrals, and inequitable outcomes in early childhood education. Participants will examine behaviors such as negativism, play, tantrums, and cultural expressions of emotion, learning to distinguish between developmental variation, impairment, and disability. The course integrates developmental science, legal frameworks (IDEA), and cultural psychology (Barrett, Mesquita) to strengthen educators’ objectivity.
